Covering the Cost of Childcare
Eligible families can access 15 hours of funded childcare per week for their 2-year-olds. Eligibility is based on certain criteria, such as receiving specific benefits or meeting income thresholds.
Additionally, non-UK citizens under the ‘no recourse to public funds’ category may still qualify based on residency and income, with eligibility determined by immigration status and household income, both within and outside London. However, families with savings or investments exceeding £16,000 are not eligible. Please note that while the childcare hours are funded, additional costs for meals, trips, and other expenses may apply.
All three and four-year-olds in England are entitled to 15 hours of funded childcare or early education per week, available for 38 weeks a year, totalling 570 hours annually.
This program ensures every child can benefit from early learning experiences, laying a strong foundation for their future education. Similar to the program for 2-year-olds, parents might need to cover additional expenses such as meals, nappies, wipes, and extracurricular activities. To access this funding, parents need to contact the nursery, provide proof of the child’s age, and complete a simple declaration form.
For both age groups, applying is straightforward. Parents can contact Young and Smart Day Nursery, submit the necessary documentation and complete the required forms. Funding availability begins from set dates following the child’s second birthday, depending on when they turn two. These programs are designed to provide essential support, making high-quality childcare and early education more affordable and accessible for families.
